Privacy Policy

1. About this policy

BBB Daily Bite ("the app") is provided by Muse Consulting Pty Ltd (ABN 32 133 856 907), trading as Bigger Better Brains ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what personal information the app collects, why we collect it, where it is stored, and the choices you have.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you use the app from the European Union or the United Kingdom, we also apply the rights set out in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Information we collect

When you create an account

  • Your email address.

  • Your password. This is managed by our sign in provider and is never visible to us.

When you use the app

  • The topics you choose.

  • The Bites you save.

  • Your daily reminder settings: whether reminders are on, the time and days you chose, and your time zone.

  • Basic account records, such as the date your account was created and whether you have finished setting up the app.

Stored only on your phone

  • The reminders the app schedules for you.

  • The current Bite shown in the home screen widget.

We do not collect your name, location, contacts, photos or payment details. The app has no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  1. sign you in and keep your account secure

  2. show you Bites that match your chosen topics

  3. keep your saved Bites

  4. send your daily reminder at the time and on the days you choose

  5. respond to you if you contact us for support.

We do not sell, rent or share your information for marketing. Using the app does not add you to any mailing list.

4. Where your information is stored

We use Google Firebase, a service of Google LLC, to run accounts and store app data.

  • Your topics, saved Bites and reminder settings are stored in Google's Sydney data centre.

  • Firebase Authentication, which manages sign in, may process your email address in other countries, including the United States.

Google acts as our service provider and protects this information under its own security and privacy commitments.

5. Links and sharing

  • The app links to research sources and to the Bigger Better Brains website, including our BBB+ membership page. These open in your web browser and are covered by those websites' own privacy policies. BBB+ membership is purchased on our website, not in the app.

  • When you use Share, the Bite text is passed to the app you choose. We do not see what you share or who you share it with.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep your information while you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, topics, saved Bites and reminder settings are deleted, and your sign in account is removed.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Change your topics and reminder settings at any time in Settings.

  • Turn reminders off in the app or in your phone's settings.

  • Delete your account at any time in Settings, using Delete account. This removes your information straight away.

  • Ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, by emailing us at the address below.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we use your information to provide the service you asked for, and we send reminders only with your permission. You may also ask us to restrict or stop using your information, ask for a copy in a portable format, and complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are in Australia and you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

8. Security

All information travels over encrypted connections. Our database rules allow each account to read and change only its own information. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

9. Children

The app is designed for teachers and other adults. It is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For significant changes, we will also let you know in the app or on our website.
